Preview Roundups
November 22, 2017
Minnesota at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres are in a familiar position, buried at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and stuck in another lengthy losing streak. Featuring the league's least productive offense, the reeling Sabres will look to avoid a seventh consecutive defeat when they host the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday night.
Edmonton at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings hope a late collapse in their last game does not spark a losing streak as they prepare to host the reeling Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. The Red Wings earned at least one point for the fourth straight contest (2-0-2) despite giving up two goals in the final 6:15 of regulation and another in overtime in a 4-3 home loss to Colorado on Sunday.
Toronto at Florida 7:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs saw their season-high six-game winning streak come to a halt after stumbling against the most unlikely of foes. The Maple Leafs look to regain their footing on Wednesday when they visit the Florida Panthers, who have dropped eight of their last 11 contests.
Boston at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
After winning two of three in California, the Boston Bruins hope to conclude their four-game road trip with a third straight triumph when they visit the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday. Boston began its stretch in the Golden State with a loss to Anaheim before allowing a total of two goals in victories over Los Angeles and San Jose.
Philadelphia at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders have yet to come away from a home game without at least one point this season, and they look to continue the streak Wednesday against the Philadelphia Flyers. New York is 6-0-2 at Barclays Center after posting a 6-4 triumph over Carolina on Thursday but is coming off a 4-2 road setback against the Hurricanes on Sunday.
Vancouver at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks receive a bit of a break when they continue their six-game road trip Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Vancouver, which began its trek with Tuesday's 5-2 triumph in Philadelphia, will not have to deal with Evgeni Malkin, who will be sidelined at least one game with an upper-body injury.
Ottawa at Washington 7:00 PM ET
Alex Ovechkin began the season with a flourish, recording an opening-night hat trick in a 5-4 shootout victory over the Ottawa Senators on Oct. 5. The three-time Hart Trophy recipient looks to recapture that magic and snap a six-game goal drought on Wednesday as the Washington Capitals host the Senators.
NY Rangers at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
Finnish linemates Teuvo Teravainen and Sebastian Aho are proving to be a nice one-two punch for the Carolina Hurricanes. The duo looks to continue its offensive surge Wednesday as Carolina attempts to extend its home point streak to six games when it hosts the New York Rangers.
Calgary at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets are on a tear but another team hitting its stride will try to cool them off when the Calgary Flames pay a visit to Nationwide Arena on Wednesday night. Columbus answered a four-game skid with a four-game winning streak as it prepares to face the high-powered Flames, winners of four of their last five games.
Chicago at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks may be starting to turn their fortunes in a positive direction with two straight wins and could gain a big boost if they can go into the holiday with a road victory against the red-hot Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night. The Blackhawks responded to giving up seven goals against New Jersey by beating the New York Rangers 6-3 and then knocking off two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh 2-1 on Saturday.
Montreal at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
Defenseman Mattias Ekholm looks to extend an historic goal-scoring streak to five games when the red-hot Nashville Predators host the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. Ekholm’s four-game run is the longest in franchise history for a defenseman, and he has added a pair of assists during that stretch for the Predators, who have won seven of their last eight contests.
Dallas at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars attempt to end one streak and extend another when they visit the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday. Dallas is aiming for a third consecutive victory after skating past Montreal at home on Tuesday but has dropped four in a row on the road (0-3-1).
San Jose at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes are hitting their stride and try to extend their season-best winning streak to four games when they begin a three-game homestand by hosting the struggling San Jose Sharks on Wednesday. After a 1-12-1 start, Arizona is 4-3-2 in its last nine contests after completing a 3-1-0 road trip by snapping Toronto's six-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory Monday, but still has the fewest points in the NHL (13).
Vegas at Anaheim 10:30 PM ET
Vegas used five goaltenders in their inaugural 17 games and while Anaheim's injury issues in goal pale in comparison, the Ducks can relate as they prepare to host the Golden Knights on Wednesday in their first meeting. "That's the depth of your organization," Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle told reporters. "Goaltending, people would say it's the most critical one. You don't know how important it is until you don't have it.''
Winnipeg at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
Jonathan Quick is one of the top goaltenders in the NHL and his early-season play is a big reason why the Los Angeles Kings lead the Pacific Division, but he is mired in a five-start losing streak entering Wednesday’s home game against the Winnipeg Jets. Quick surrendered three goals in less than 12 minutes in Sunday’s loss at Vegas, but remains in the top 10 in the NHL in save percentage (.926) and goals against average (2.47).
