Preview Roundups
March 28, 2017
Nashville at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins stopped the bleeding with a big road victory last time out and could have Tuukka Rask back in the crease when they host the surging Nashville Predators on Tuesday. The Bruins ended a four-game losing streak Saturday with a 2-1 victory at the New York Islanders without Rask (lower body) and sit one point ahead of Tampa Bay for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.
Ottawa at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators insist they are looking ahead to the opening stop on their four-game road trip as opposed to staring at what they left behind in the rear-view mirror. With three setbacks to Atlantic Division-leading Montreal dotting a stretch that includes five losses in their last seven (2-3-2), the Senators look to continue their march toward the postseason on Tuesday when they play the rubber match of the season series against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Detroit at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
An 11-game point streak has put the Carolina Hurricanes back in contention for a spot in the postseason. Carolina, which is on a 7-0-4 run, sits four points behind Boston for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference and hopes to move closer with a victory on Tuesday in its second home game against the Detroit Red Wings in two days.
Buffalo at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets hope to regain their scoring touch as they continue their quest for a division crown Tuesday, when they host the Buffalo Sabres. Columbus, which trails Washington by three points for first place in the Metropolitan with eight games remaining, has produced a total of four goals over its last three contests - going 1-1-1 in that span.
Winnipeg at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets joined the New Jersey Devils in being mathematically eliminated from postseason consideration despite not having to take the ice on Monday. Although grounded in the standings, the Jets will visit the Devils on Tuesday vying for their fifth win in seven outings since the teams' originally scheduled contest on March 14 was postponed due to a severe snowstorm.
Florida at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs are in position to reach the postseason for just the second time since the 2004-05 lockout and attempt to strengthen their chances when they host the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. Toronto, which is riding an eight-game point streak at home (5-0-3), enters the contest in third place in the Atlantic Division - one point ahead of Boston.
Dallas at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
After knocking off their nearest pursuer for the third time in an eight-day span, the Montreal Canadiens will try to protect their slim lead in the Atlantic Division when they host the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night. Montreal owns a three-point lead over Ottawa following Saturday's 3-1 win over the Senators, who still hold a game in hand.
Washington at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals have clinched a playoff spot and are holding down the pole position for a second straight Presidents' Trophy, but they kick off a five-game road trip at the reeling Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night. Washington has won four in a row and owns a six-game point streak that started with a 4-2 victory over the Wild on March 14.
Los Angeles at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers have an opportunity to end a pronounced 11-year postseason dry spell on Tuesday with a home win over the Pacific Division rival Los Angeles Kings. Edmonton, which last made the NHL's second season during its impressive run to the Stanley Cup final in 2006, has won two in a row and six of seven to move within two points of first-place Anaheim.
Anaheim at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks have ascended to the top of the Pacific Division thanks to the helping hand of captain Ryan Getzlaf, who was named the NHL's Third Star of the Week on Monday. With seven of his team-leading 52 assists coming in the last three outings, Getzlaf looks to help the Ducks earn a playoff berth with a fifth straight win on Tuesday when they open a four-game road trip versus the Vancouver Canucks.
NY Rangers at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
Just as the San Jose Sharks appeared on the verge of running away with the Pacific Division title, they have tumbled back to the pack in the wake of an ugly six-game losing streak. Now sitting two points behind first-place Anaheim and in a tie with Edmonton, the Sharks look to snap out of their funk on Tuesday against the visiting New York Rangers.
