Houston at Texas 2:05 PM ET
Justin Verlander has been nothing short of sensational since being acquired by the Houston Astros, posting a 4-0 mark with a rail-thin 0.64 ERA in four starts with his new club. Verlander aims to continue his stellar form as the Astros bid for the top mark in the American League on Wednesday afternoon in the third contest of a four-game series versus the host Texas Rangers.
Miami at Colorado 3:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies attempt to move closer to sewing up a National League playoff spot when they conclude their three-game series against the visiting Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Colorado holds a 1 1/2-game lead over Milwaukee and is 2 1/2 ahead of St. Louis for the second wild card with four contests remaining,
Seattle at Oakland 3:35 PM ET
After playing themselves out of postseason contention, the Seattle Mariners still hope to avoid a losing record this season. Seattle lost eight of nine to end its chances at a wild-card spot in the American League but attempts to complete a three-game sweep against the Athletics in Oakland on Wednesday afternoon and get within three games of .500 with three remaining.
San Francisco at Arizona 3:40 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks have to wait another week before hosting the National League wild-card game, but J.D. Martinez already is in postseason form. Martinez looks to maintain his torrid pace Wednesday as the Diamondbacks continue their three-game series against the visiting San Francisco Giants, who need one victory over their final four games to avoid their first 100-loss season since 1985.
Baltimore at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
Although the sample size is relatively small, Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen has tormented the Baltimore Orioles throughout his career. McCutchen took it to another level in Tuesday's 10-1 drubbing of the visiting Orioles and looks to continue his success when the teams end their two-game series Wednesday night at PNC Park.
Tampa Bay at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees are not done yet in their pursuit of the American League East title and look to move a little closer when they host the Tampa Bay Rays for the middle contest of their three-game series on Wednesday. The Yankees won for the 17th time in 23 contests with a 6-1 triumph on Tuesday and moved within three games of first-place Boston in the AL East with five remaining.
Washington at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Bryce Harper successfully hurdled the first obstacle simply by making his return from a six-week absence due to a knee injury. After being eased in for five innings in his first contest since Aug. 12, Harper looks to continue to work out the kinks Wednesday as the Washington Nationals play the rubber match of their three-game series against the host Philadelphia Phillies.
Chi. Cubs at St. Louis 7:08 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs will take a second crack at clinching their second straight National League Central title when they play the third contest in a four-game road series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. The Cubs need one win or one Milwaukee loss to wrap up the division, while the Cardinals are fighting to stay afloat in the NL wild-card race.

Atlanta at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
Injuries and poor play long since derailed the New York Mets’ plans for a third-consecutive playoff appearance, but outfielder Brandon Nimmo is providing a glimmer of hope for the future entering the finale of a home series Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves. Nimmo collected two hits to help the Mets rally from an early 3-0 deficit in Tuesday's 4-3 victory, and in 29 games since Aug. 27 is hitting .300 with 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
Minnesota at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins are on the verge of making history, poised to become the first team in history to advance to the postseason one year after losing 100 games. Owning a magic number of one, the Twins can punch their ticket to the playoffs when they continue their three-game series at the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night.
Toronto at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays haven't made much noise all season in the American League East, but the club sure has had its say in regard to how the division shakes out down the stretch. After taking two of three from the second-place New York Yankees over the weekend, the Blue Jays vie for a three-game road sweep of the first-place Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Wednesday.
Cincinnati at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The margin of error continues to shrink for the Milwaukee Brewers, who are trying to overtake Colorado for the second wild card in the National League. The Brewers resume their final home series of the season when they host the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday for the middle contest of their three-game set.
LA Angels at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels can't lose again if they want to claim an American League playoff spot, but they also will require a complete collapse by Minnesota. The Angels trail the Twins for the second wild card with five left to play as they enter Wednesday's contest against the host Chicago White Sox.
Detroit at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
Now officially eliminated from playoff contention, the Kansas City Royals are set to begin their final farewell to several franchise cornerstones. A day after their wild-card hopes ended, the Royals figure to rest a few regulars on Wednesday as they continue their three-game series against the visiting Detroit Tigers.
San Diego at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers aim to match their top victory total since moving to Southern California when they host the San Diego Padres on Wednesday for the finale of their three-game series. The Dodgers' 9-2 victory on Tuesday was their 101st of the season, one shy of the Los Angeles era-mark shared by the 1962 and 1974 clubs.
