Preview Roundups
June 25, 2018
Oakland at Detroit 3:10 PM ET
Edwin Jackson will match a major-league record on Monday afternoon when the veteran right-hander suits up for his 13th team as the Oakland Athletics open a four-game series against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Jackson, who will join former reliever Octavio Dotel for the honor, opted out of his contract with Washington before signing a minor-league deal with the Athletics on June 6.
LA Angels at Kansas City 4:15 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals own the worst record in the American League and are losers of 11 of their last 12 games after falling 11-3 to the Houston Astros on Sunday. The Royals will try to turn things around at home when they host Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels on Monday in the makeup of a rainout from April 15.
Seattle at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners were cruising along and battling the Houston Astros for first place in the American League West before heading east for a 10-game road trip. The Mariners did not have much luck against Boston and New York but will try to bounce back when they visit the Baltimore Orioles for the opener of a four-game series on Monday.
NY Yankees at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees will be without one of their top sluggers as they attempt to halt a three-game slide when they visit the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday for the opener of their three-game interleague series. Gary Sanchez, who is tied for third on the club with 14 homers, exited Sunday's 12-inning setback at Tampa Bay with a right hip/groin injury and likely is headed to the disabled list.
Arizona at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Shelby Miller makes his first trip to a major-league mound in more than 14 months when the Arizona Diamondbacks look to continue their hot streak Monday night in the first of four games against the host Miami Marlins. Miller underwent Tommy John surgery after making just four starts last season and hopes to help the Diamondbacks win for the ninth time in 10 road games.
Pittsburgh at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The New York Mets get plenty of headlines for their struggles at the plate, but the Pittsburgh Pirates are hurting just as much with the bats. Both teams will try to scratch out a few runs when the Mets host the Pirates on Monday night in the opener of a three-game series.
Washington at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays look to ride the momentum after sweeping the team with the best record in the majors when they host the Washington Nationals on Monday for the opener of their two-game interleague series. Rookie Jake Bauers’ walk-off homer in the 12th inning on Sunday gave the Rays a 7-6 triumph over the visiting New York Yankees - their sixth straight victory at Tropicana Field and fifth in seven games overall.
Cincinnati at Atlanta 7:35 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds are soaring as they arrive in Atlanta to open a three-game series Monday with the Braves, riding a seven-game winning streak during which they are smashing homers and scoring runs at an impressive clip. Pitcher Michael Lorenzen and outfielder Jesse Winkler provided pinch-hit homers in Sunday’s 8-6 comeback victory over the Cubs, and the Reds begin the week hitting .322 as a team during the streak while averaging 7.6 runs and 11 hits per contest.
San Diego at Texas 8:05 PM ET
Although their season-best winning streak fell by the wayside over the weekend, the Texas Rangers' stretch of three consecutive series victories remains intact. The Rangers should feel good about their chances of making it four in a row starting Monday, when they begin an eight-game homestand with the first of three interleague contests against the San Diego Padres.
Toronto at Houston 8:10 PM ET
Yuli Gurriel has been swinging a hot bat in June, but he has made a habit of delivering in key situations all season long. The 34-year-old Cuban looks to continue his torrid month at the plate on Monday, when the Houston Astros begin the final leg of their nine-game homestand with the first of three contests versus the Toronto Blue Jays.
Cleveland at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians benefited from a successful homestand to push their winning streak and games over .500 total to a season-high seven and 10 games, respectively. The Indians hope their good fortune travels well as they begin a nine-game road trip with the opener of a three-game interleague series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.
Chi. Cubs at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
After getting embarrassed by a last-place team in their most recent series, the Chicago Cubs head west to face one of the National League’s hottest clubs. The suddenly-slumping Cubs have lost four straight heading into a four-game series against the surging Los Angeles Dodgers, who are opening a 10-game homestand.
