Tyson Foerster scored twice in the final minute of the second period to lead the host Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

Joel Farabee and Cam York also scored for the Flyers, who hold the third spot in the Metropolitan Division. Goaltender Felix Sandstrom made 24 saves to collect the win in his first NHL action of the season.

Vladimir Tarasenko and Thomas Chabot scored for the Senators, who are on a four-game skid. Goalie Mads Sogaard, recalled from the minors due to issues involving Ottawa's top two goaltenders, stopped 36 shots.

In need of a big boost going into the game, having lost three of four outings, the Flyers received it when Farabee opened the scoring 68 seconds into the clash. After an Ottawa turnover, Nick Seeler sent a long point shot that Farabee deflected for his 18th goal of the season.

Tarasenko tied the score at 4:04 of the second period. During a two-on-one rush, Tarasenko worked his way to the right faceoff dot and lifted a backhanded shot for his 17th goal of the season.

Foerster then took over with 46.1 seconds remaining in the second period. Off a faceoff win by Scott Laughton, Foerster worked to the top of the left circle and buried a high offering.

Thanks to a penalty shot, Foerster notched his second of the game with 1.5 seconds remaining in the middle frame. After slowly working toward the net, Foerster snapped a shot inside the far post for his 16th of the season -- and ninth in as many outings.

The Flyers have scored a league-record five penalty shot goals this season.

Chabot scored on a power play for his sixth goal of the season, trimming the Senators' deficit to 3-2 with 1:58 remaining, but York sealed the win with a buzzer-beating empty-netter.

The Senators, already without goalie Joonas Korpisalo due to illness, were without goalie Anton Forsberg due to an undisclosed injury suffered Friday night. So, the club had to recall Leevi Merilainen to serve as the backup.

Ottawa captain Brady Tkachuk was a late scratch after being injured late in Friday's game. Then, forward Zack MacEwen left in the first period due to injury.
