LAS VEGAS -- Radek Faksa scored his first career hat trick and Ben Bishop stopped 34 shots for his second shutout of the season as the Dallas Stars defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Arena.

The loss snapped a five-game win streak and also an eight-game home win streak for the Knights, both of which had tied the NHL record for a team in its inaugural season. Vegas (15-7-1) also dropped into a tie for first place in the Pacific Division with the Los Angeles Kings (14-8-3), who won at Detroit 4-1 earlier Tuesday night.

Dallas (13-10-1) snapped a four-game road losing streak and won for the fourth time in five games. The Stars also became the first team to ever shutout Vegas, which entered the contest second in the NHL in scoring with an average of 3.7 goals per game.

Faksa needed less than seven minutes at the end of the second period to record his hat trick. His first goal came at the 12:55 mark when he took a pass from defenseman Dan Hamhuis in the slot and fired a shot past the glove hand of Vegas goalie Malcolm Subban.

His second came at the 19:33 mark when he jammed a pass from center Gemel Smith into the right side of the net past a stick-less Subban. The Vegas goalie lost the stick when Smith's got tangled with it while going behind the net to get the puck. The Golden Knight's challenged for interference but the goal was upheld.

Then, just eight seconds later, Faksa made it 3-0 when he took a pass from left wing Antoine Roussel while driving toward the net and rifled a shot over Subban's stick.
