Evander Kane collected his seventh goal in as many games and Chris Mason turned aside 23 shots as the Winnipeg Jets breezed to their season-high fourth straight win with a 4-2 home triumph over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.

Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien and Kane both scored and set up a goal and Blake Wheeler notched his second three-assist game of the season for Winnipeg, which improved to 8-2-1 in its last 11 contests.

The offensive outburst was more than enough for Mason, who was making his first start since Nov. 25. He saw his bid for his 22nd career shutout end midway through the third period after rookie defenseman Justin Faulk scored his first career NHL goal.

Blue-liner Jaroslav Spacek, who was acquired from the Montreal Canadiens earlier in the day for veteran defenseman Tomas Kaberle, picked up a pair of assists in his Hurricanes' debut.

Byfuglien scored 34 seconds into the contest after wristing a shot which caromed off Cam Ward from behind the net for his sixth goal of the season.

Kane doubled the advantage 4 1/2 minutes later after blasting a shot past a screened Ward for his 15th of the campaign.

Tim Stapleton and Bryan Little netted power-play goals 72 seconds apart midway through the second period to send Carolina careening to its eighth loss in nine games.
