Butler forward Kelan Martin scored a team-high 19 points as the ninth-ranked Bulldogs tuned up for Big East play by beating visiting IUPUI 92-54 Monday night in Indianapolis, Ind.

Butler (11-1) hit 34 of 68 shots (50 percent) as it won its eighth consecutive game.

Guard Roosevelt Jones had 17 points and five steals, and forward Andrew Chrabascz added 15 points for the Bulldogs, who face a challenging start to conference play later this week. They host to No. 12 Providence on Thursday and travel to play sixth-ranked and unbeaten Xavier on Saturday.

IUPUI (4-11) was led by guard Darell Combs, who scored 11 points. Guard T.J. Henderson had 10.

Butler started slowly, hitting six of its first 18 shots from the field, but a jumper by Jones after his offensive rebound kick-started a surge. The Bulldogs made 10 of their final 14 shots of the half, turning a 13-10 lead into a 43-24 advantage at the break.

Butler then scored the first 10 points of the second half.

The Bulldogs' leading scorer, guard Kellen Dunham, remained in a shooting slump. Dunham, averaging 16.3 points entering the game, finished with eight points on 2-of-11 shooting, missing all five tries from behind the arc. He is 7 of 46 overall, and 2 of 27 from 3-point range, in the past four games.

Butler exceeded its season scoring average of 89.7 points, which ranked second in the nation.
