Virginia 56, Florida State 36: Junior guard Joe Harris led all scorers with 17 points as the host Cavaliers easily held off the Seminoles.

Virginia (12-5, 2-2 ACC) also was boosted by junior forward Akil Mitchell, who finished with 13 points. Paul Jesperson and Justin Anderson had eight apiece.

After Florida State (10-7, 2-2) trailed 11-9, the Cavaliers went on a 22-6 run to close out the first half. The Seminoles didn't cross the 30-point plateau until six minutes remained en route to season lows for points scored and points allowed.

The Seminoles were led by senior guard Michael Snaer, who scored nine points. Junior forward Okaro White added eight and nobody else scored more than four for Florida State.

Florida State hit 1 of 15 3-point attempts while Virginia shot 7-for-13 from behind the arc.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cavaliers snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Seminoles. … Florida State still leads the series 21-18, but Virginia is 12-8 in Charlottesville. … Virginia's Darion Atkins missed the game with a leg injury.
