Oregon State 87, Chicago State 77: Roberto Nelson matched his career-high with 34 points and Devon Collier scored 25 off the bench to lead the host Beavers to their third straight victory.

Nelson, a 6-3 junior guard, also matched his career high by making six 3-pointers on seven attempts for Oregon State, which is 7-2 for the second consecutive season. The Beavers secured their best record to start back-to-back seasons since 1983-84.

Nate Duhon scored a season-high 18 points and Quinton Pippen had 13 for the Cougars (3-9).

The Beavers outscored Chicago State 24-15 over the final 8:35 of the first half to take a 44-36 lead. Olaf Schaftenaar started the run by sinking back-to-back 3-pointers. Oregon State started the second half with a 13-5 run and the Cougars never crawled back within single digits.

Collier, a 6-8 junior forward, made 10 of 15 shots while producing his fourth 20-point game this season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nelson is averaging 23.2 points in the last four games. … Oregon State junior guard Ahmad Starks, who came in leading the team in scoring at 14.9, went scoreless while playing limited minutes. Sophomore guard Challe Barton filled in and had a career-high six assists. … The Beavers are 7-0 when leading with five minutes remaining this season.
