Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. each had 19 points as No. 13 Michigan remained perfect at home with a 66-64 overtime victory over Northwestern on Wednesday at Crisler Center.

With Michigan (14-3, 4-1 Big Ten) leading 66-63 with 6.3 seconds left in overtime, Burke, a freshman guard, made a pair of free throws to extend the lead to three. With one last chance to tie, Northwestern's Alex Marcotullio was fouled by Hardaway on a 3-point attempt with 0.3 seconds left.

Marcotullio, who didn’t attempt a shot and played sparingly, misfired on his first attempt, made the second and then intentionally missed the third. The Wildcats (11-5, 1-3 Big Ten) weren’t able to get another shot off, and the Wolverines came away with their 11th straight home victory.

The win was Michigan’s second in the last five meetings against the Wildcats, who have lost 16 of their last 18 Big Ten road games.

John Shurna had a game-high 21 points and Drew Crawford added 20 for Northwestern, which led 34-27 at the half and took a 10-point lead early in the second half.

Michigan pulled even at 44 with 11:34 left on Zack Novak’s layup, but from there, neither team could take control. The Wolverines made just two field goals over the final 8:18, and Northwestern didn’t make any. With a chance to win in regulation, the Wildcats failed to get a shot off.

Northwestern shot 50 percent from the field — including 6-of-13 on 3-point attempts — but committed 15 turnovers. Michigan won despite shooting just 33 percent.

Stu Douglass finished with 10 points for the Wolverines, who scored eight of their 12 overtime points from the free-throw line.
