Mason Plumlee had 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds as No. 5 Duke walloped visiting Colorado State 87-64 on Wednesday.

Duke entered off its worst non-conference defeat in 16 years, an 85-63 loss at No. 2 Ohio State last week. But against the Rams, the Blue Devils (8-1) came out firing and shot 56.4 percent from the field.

Plumlee, who scored 13 of his points in the first half, also had four steals and five blocks for the Blue Devils, who haven’t lost a non-conference home game since 2000.

Duke led by only seven points with 5:20 left in the first half but closed on a 10-0 run to take a 47-30 advantage into halftime.

Colorado State cut the deficit to 13 with 15:48 left, but the Blue Devils quickly extended the lead to 20 and controlled the game the rest of the way.

Austin Rivers, a freshman guard, finished with a team-high 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting, and Andre Dawkins came off the bench to score 15. Defensively, Duke hounded the Rams and forced 15 turnovers.

Greg Smith scored a team-high 18 points off the bench for Colorado State (5-4), whose most recent meeting with an ACC opponent came in the 2003 NCAA Tournament when it lost to Duke 67-57.

Dorian Green had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Wes Eikmeier added 10 for the Rams, who fell to 0-3 on the road.
