Tyler Zeller scored 25 points and Harrison Barnes added 21 as No. 19 North Carolina gained a tie for first place in the ACC with an 87-76 victory over visiting Maryland on Sunday.

Leslie McDonald added 15 points and John Henson had 10 points and 15 rebounds for the Tar Heels (22-6, 12-2 ACC), who have won five straight to join Duke atop the league standings. Kendall Marshall chipped in with four points, three steals and 10 assists for North Carolina in moving to 14-0 at home.

Terrell Stoglin scored a career-high 28 points and Jordan Williams added 16 points and 19 rebounds for Maryland (18-11, 7-7), now 2-3 in its last five games. The Terrapins were just 2-of-12 from 3-point range, including 0-of-5 in the first half.

North Carolina had 14 offensive rebounds in the opening half and closed with a 12-4 run for a 43-31 halftime lead. Zeller had 14 points to lead the way and Barnes had 11, equaling the total amount he had in the first half of his previous three games.

Maryland was within seven points with 14:11 remaining in the game, but Barnes scored six in a 14-4 run as North Carolina took a comfortable 68-51 lead with 10:32 left.
