Louisville took control with a layup parade beginning at the 14:58 mark of the second when Van Treese and Jennings combined for all the points on dunks or layups during a 10-0 run that put the Cardinals on top, 64-55. The Bulls fought back to take a one-point lead before Louisville went on another spurt to push the lead back to 73-66 and managed to keep control.

The Cardinals face their biggest test of the early Big East schedule on Wednesday when they travel to No. 7 Villanova before coming home for Marquette and St. John’s.

South Florida (6-11, 0-4) has lost six straight and now has to travel to No. 23 Cincinnati on Wednesday.
