Teams that didn't get North Carolina while it was down last season might regret it this year. The eighth-ranked Tar Heels showed off their entire arsenal in a 107-63 rout of Hofstra Thursday in the first round of the Honda Puerto Rico Tip-Off in San Juan.

North Carolina went 20-17, 5-11 in the ACC, last season and missed the NCAA tournament. The Tar Heels didn't have Harrison Barnes or a mature John Henson last year, though. They do now and have the look of a team that will be returning to the field of 65.

Barnes, who some project as the No. 1 pick in next year's NBA Draft, led the Tar Heels with 19 points. He scored on the inside and stepped out to hit 4 of his 5 3-point attempts. Henson, who didn't have the kind of impact that was expected last season as a freshman, appears to have improved over the offseason. The sophomore had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Leslie McDonald came off the bench to hit four 3-pointers and finish with 16 points.

The Tar Heels (2-0) advance to the second round and will face the winner of Thursday's nightcap between Western Kentucky and Minnesota on Friday night.

Hofstra was over-matched from the opening tip and trailed by 25 at halftime. The Pride (1-1) fall into the losers bracket, where they'll play the loser of the Western Kentucky-Minnesota game. Charles Jenkins led Hofstra with a game-high 24, but only one other player finished in double figures for the Pride.
