Michael Beasley scored a career-high 42 points and added nine rebounds Wednesday as the Minnesota Timberwolves snapped a six-game losing streak with their first road win of the season, a 98-89 triumph over the Sacramento Kings.

Sebastian Telfair started in place of injured Luke Ridnour and responded with 16 points for the Timberwolves, who forced 19 turnovers and ended a 17-game road slide dating to last season.

Beasley was on fire from the start, pouring in 18 points in the first quarter as Minnesota surged to a 27-22 lead. He pushed his total to 27 by the end of the first half to give the Timberwolves a 51-45 edge.

The Kings worked their way back into it in the third period, grabbing a 68-64 lead on Tyreke Evans’ layup with 5:07 left. But Minnesota did not crumble and took a 74-72 lead into the fourth quarter.

Beasley scored five points in the final 2:43 to put it away.

Omri Casspi scored 17 points and Samuel Dalembert added 14 and nine rebounds for Sacramento.
