Jason Terry scored seven of his 18 points in the final 2:33 as the shorthanded Dallas Mavericks outlasted the visiting Portland Trail Blazers, 84-81, on Tuesday.

Tyson Chandler added 14 points and 13 rebounds for Dallas, which was playing without forwards Dirk Nowitzki and Caron Butler. Nowitzki remains sidelined with a sprained knee and Butler is out for the season with a knee injury.

The Mavericks were up, 67-62, after Brendan Haywood knocked down a short jumper with 10:02 left. But LaMarcus Aldridge scored four points during a 7-0 run that put Portland back on top.

Dallas went back up on Terry’s jumper at the 6:13 mark before Patrick Mills drove for a layup and Aldridge scored another four points to make it 77-72.

Terry would not let the Mavericks lose, assisting on Chandler’s layup before draining a 3-pointer to tie it at the 2:33 mark. Terry grabbed a defensive rebound and nailed another jumper to give Dallas the lead with 1:31 remaining.

DeShawn Stevenson and Wesley Matthews traded 3-pointers before Terry hit another shot to seal it with 12 seconds left.

Aldridge finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds and Marcus Camby collected 10 points and 20 boards for Portland.
