Freddy Galvis was 5-for-5 with four RBIs, including a three-run homer during a five-run seventh-inning rally, to give the San Diego Padres a 9-3 comeback win over the Atlanta Braves on Friday at SunTrust Park.

San Diego rallied from a 3-2 deficit against Atlanta reliever Sam Freeman (1-3), who allowed a two-run single to Hunter Renfroe that put the Padres ahead.

The Braves brought in reliever Peter Moylan, who allowed a walk and gave up a homer to Galvis, his fourth, that just eluded the leaping effort of Atlanta outfielder Ender Inciarte.

Galvis has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 starts on the road against Atlanta and is hitting .414 (17-for-41) during those games. His five hits were a career high and raised his season average 15 points from .227 to .242.

The win ended an eight-game losing streak for San Diego in Atlanta. The Padres lead the season series 3-2.

San Diego manager Andy Green was ejected in the fourth inning arguing a late strike call change by home plate umpire Joe West. After being tossed, Green threw his hat in the direction of West before continuing the argument. West picked up the hat and handed it back to Green.

The winning pitcher was Clayton Richard (6-6), who pitched six innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks. He struck out six and defeated the Braves for the second time this season.

It was the third straight win for Richard, who has allowed three or fewer earned runs in his last four starts.

The Padres got one scoreless inning from Craig Stammen and two from Jose Castillo in a non-save situation.

Atlanta starter Brandon McCarthy allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings, despite giving up eight hits and one walk.

The Padres scored two runs in the first inning when Jose Pirela hit a two-run homer to center. It was his first homer since Sept. 3, 2017, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Braves tied the game in the second on Johan Camargo's two-run single.

Atlanta took a 3-2 lead in the fifth when Freddie Freeman hit a solo homer, his 15th.

The Padres added two insurance runs in the ninth. Pirela scored on Castillo's infield grounder, a play that was originally ruled to be an out, but was overturned on the field by the umpires. The Braves challenged the call, but it was upheld in favor of the Padres. Galvis then singled to left to drive home another run.
