Paul Goldschmidt homered twice, Jake Lamb and David Peralta also went deep and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the visiting Colorado Rockies 9-4 on Friday night to take the first game of the weekend series between the top two teams in the National League West.

Zack Greinke (5-4) struck out five in 5 2/3 innings and added an RBI single to help his own cause as the Diamondbacks extended their division lead to 1 1/2 games over the Rockies.

Trevor Story doubled and homered and Charlie Blackmon also hit a home run for the Rockies.

Goldschmidt, who is hitting .481 in June after struggling with a .144 average in May, doubled and scored a run in the first inning and then hit a two-run homer in the third to start an onslaught of home runs off German Marquez (4-6). Two pitches after Goldschmidt hit a ball 438 feet to dead center, Lamb launched one just inside the foul pole in right field to make it 4-1.

One out later, Peralta, who had three hits, homered into the Rockies bullpen to give Greinke a four-run cushion.

The three home runs in one inning are a season high for Arizona. It was the first time a Colorado pitcher allowed three homers in an inning since Scott Oberg did it April 19, 2015.

The Rockies used their power hitting in the fifth to get back into the game. Blackmon hit his 13th homer to cut the deficit to three, and with two outs, Carlos Gonzalez hit a bloop single and Trevor Story homered to deep center to make it 5-4.

The Diamondbacks got one back in the sixth on Greinke's RBI single with two outs and added two more in the eighth off reliever Chris Rusin. Jeff Mathis drove in Ketel Marte with a triple to left-center field and scored on a sacrifice fly.

Goldschmidt's 439-foot shot to center in the ninth gave him his first multi-homer game of the season and the 13th of his career.
