Dodgers 5, Diamondbacks 4: Adrian Gonzalez drove in two runs with a walkoff double off closer J.J. Putz and host Los Angeles salvaged a split of the four-game series.

With one out and two runners on, Gonzalez lined an 0-2 pitch down the right-field line, scoring Mark Ellis from second and Shane Victorino from first. The win kept the Dodgers 4 1/2 games behind National League West-leading San Francisco and moved them one half-game back of St. Louis for the second wild-card spot.

Putz (1-5) blew his first save in his last 19 opportunities, and Arizona lost for just the fourth time in 64 games when leading after eight innings.

Ronald Belisario (4-1) worked a scoreless top of the ninth to earn the win.

Prior to Gonzalez’s heroics, he was batting 6-for-36 (.167) with three RBIs since hitting a three-run homer in his first at-bat with the Dodgers.

Matt Kemp hit his 18th home run in the second to give the Dodgers a brief lead before John McDonald homered in the fourth off Chris Capuano, who allowed three runs over five innings.

After Miguel Montero put Arizona ahead with a two-out, two-run blast in the fourth, the Dodgers answered with a run on Andre Ethier’s run-scoring grounder in the sixth.

The Dodgers scored in the seventh when Victorino singled in a run, but Brad Ziegler replaced starter Wade Miley after Gonzalez’s sun-aided double and retired Kemp on an inning-ending ground ball.

Los Angeles beat Arizona for just the second time in their last 10 meetings and defeated the Diamondbacks for the fifth time in their last 17 games at Dodger Stadium.
