Dodgers 2, Diamondbacks 1: Hanley Ramirez and Andre Ethier homered and Josh Beckett worked into the seventh inning as host Los Angeles snapped a eight-game losing streak against Arizona.

Beckett (1-1) gave up one run and struck out nine over 6 2/3 innings in his second start with the Dodgers, who remained 4 1/2 games behind National League West-leading San Francisco and 1 1/2 in back of St. Louis for the league’s second wild card.

Brandon League worked around a leadoff walk in the ninth for his first save with Los Angeles.

The Diamondbacks fell 9 1/2 games behind the Giants after losing for the first time in their last seven games at Dodger Stadium. Arizona failed to advance a runner past first base after Justin Upton’s solo homer with two outs in the third.

Ramirez hit a solo shot with one out in the second off Tyler Skaggs, who was pulled after throwing 91 pitches over five innings.

Upton tied the game in the third with a homer measured at 447 feet just moments after Aaron Hill was thrown out attempting to steal second by A.J. Ellis during Upton’s at-bat.

Ethier put the Dodgers ahead in the sixth with a two-out homer off Matt Albers (0-1), snapping a streak of seven straight scoreless road games by the Diamondbacks bullpen.

Los Angeles threatened to extend its lead in the eighth when Shane Victorino was thrown out trying to score from third. But Upton made a perfect throw to Miguel Montero, who held onto the ball when Victorino barreled into him at the plate.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arizona dropped to 11-21 in one-run games. ... Beckett struck out every Diamondback in the starting lineup aside from John McDonald. His nine strikeouts matched his season high, set May 15 when he was pitching for Boston against the Mariners. … Arizona lost for just the fourth time in its last 16 games at Dodger Stadium. ... Los Angeles recalled RHP Javy Guerra and RHP John Ely from Triple-A Albuquerque.
