Angels 8, Dodgers 5: Erick Aybar and Torii Hunter each had two hits and two RBIs while Mike Trout belted a solo home run as the Angels overcame an early five-run deficit to take the opener in the latest installment of the Freeway Series.

The Dodgers built a 5-0 lead by the time the Angels came to bat in the second inning, but Chad Billingsley was unable to hold it. Alberto Callaspo ignited a three-run rally in the second with an RBI double and Trout capped a three-run outburst in the fourth with his seventh blast of the season.

Aybar plated a run with a groundout in the second and added an RBI triple two frames later. Hunter completed the scoring in the sixth with a two-run single that saw Trout, who was running on the pitch, score from first base.

Dan Haren (5-7) benefited from the comeback as he surrendered five runs and nine hits over five innings. The right-hander, who has allowed a total of 14 runs in his last three starts, saw his home ERA balloon to 4.53.

Ernesto Frieri worked around a walk in the ninth for his eighth save in as many chances.

Billingsley (4-6) was even worse than Haren, yielding six runs and 10 hits in five frames. The 27-year-old, who has given up 11 runs in 11 innings over his last two outings, fell to 1-5 lifetime against the Angels.

Released by the Angels earlier this year, Bobby Abreu belted a three-run homer for the Dodgers, who have lost three of four in the season series and fell to 0-4 on their nine-game road trip. Andre Ethier and former Angel Juan Rivera had three hits apiece.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The announced attendance was 44,548, the largest regular-season crowd in the history of Angel Stadium. ... Dodgers RHP Blake Hawksworth, who has been out all season following a pair of elbow surgeries, began a rehab assignment with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday. Hawksworth pitched one inning, allowing a run while striking out two. ... Angels RHP Jerome Williams has been cleared for full baseball activities. Williams has been on the disabled list since Tuesday, one day after passing out from shortness of breath following his start against San Francisco and landing in the hospital.
