Mariners 8, Angels 6:
Munenori Kawasaki delivered a three-run double and John Jaso had three hits as visiting Seattle downed Los Angeles.

Kyle Seagar hit his seventh homer to help the Mariners snap a five-game losing streak to the Angels.

Kendrys Morales hit two homers and Mike Trout went 4-for-4 for the Angels in Mike Scioscia’s 2,000th game as manager of the club.

Tom Wilhelmsen got the final five outs for his first career save. Wilhelmsen entered with runners on second and third and one out in the eighth and retired Albert Pujols on a fielder’s choice and struck out Mark Trumbo. He plunked Torii Hunter with a pitch in the ninth before retiring the final two batters.

The loss was only the third in 13 games for Los Angeles.

Miguel Olivo had a run-scoring single in Seattle’s four-run fifth inning prior to Kawasaki’s double to left that gave the Mariners a 7-2 lead.

Morales’ second homer and Trout’s run-scoring single pulled the Angels within three runs in the sixth. Michael Saunders had a run-scoring single in the seventh to give the Mariners an 8-4 lead.

A sacrifice fly by Trout and a double by Maicer Izturis made it a two-run game before Wilhelmsen extinguished the Angels’ threat.

Seattle’s Jason Vargas (7-4) allowed four runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out a season-best eight and walked two.

Angels starter Ervin Santana (2-7) gave up seven runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked six and struck out one.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Seattle has scored 55 runs in its last six games, a streak that began with a 21-run splurge against the Texas Rangers. … Scioscia is just the eighth person to manage 2,000 games with one team. … Mariners first baseman Justin Smoak was named American League Player of the Week after having three homers and eight RBIs in six games … Angels catcher Bobby Wilson left in the second inning after taking a foul tip in the mask.
