Phillies 9, Orioles 6: Shane Victorino homered and drove in five as visiting Philadelphia erupted for six runs in the second inning and held on to snap a season-high six-game losing skid.

Mired in a 5-for-21 slump during the losing streak, Victorino opening the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning. The Hawaiian extended the lead to 6-0 with a two-run double in the second inning before depositing a slider from struggling starter Jake Arrieta (2-8) into the seats in right field in the fourth.

Mike Fontenot belted a two-run homer and Jim Thome broke out of a season-long slump by going 3-for-5 with an RBI double in the second inning.

The offensive onslaught was enough for Joe Blanton (5-6), who labored through 6 2/3 innings to post his first win since May 14.

After Antonio Bastardo struck out the side in the eighth inning, Jonathan Papelbon worked the ninth to secure his 16th save of the season. Papelbon was pitching at Camden Yards for the first time since the Boston Red Sox capped their swoon at the end of the 2011 season.

J.J. Hardy belted a two-run homer and Chris Davis and Robert Andino also drove in two runs apiece for the Orioles, who have dropped nine of their last 12 games.

Arrieta suffered his sixth straight loss in brutal fashion. The Orioles' opening day starter permitted season highs in runs (nine) and hits (11) to see his ERA balloon to 6.32.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Philadelphia third baseman Placido Polanco received a cortisone injection in his left wrist on Friday morning and sat out his third straight contest. Manager Charlie Manuel said that he expects Polanco to return next week. ... Thome entered the contest with just two hits in 20 at-bats this season. ... Baltimore's Adam Jones continues to struggle since his 20-game hitting streak ended. Jones, who went 0-for-4 on Friday, has just five hits in his last 30 at-bats.
