Rookie Josh Collmenter threw six scoreless innings in his first major league start and the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks snapped a five-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night.

Collmenter (2-0) allowed two hits and struck out three to outduel hard-luck loser Chad Billingsley as the Diamondbacks halted Los Angeles' three-game winning streak.

Melvin Mora plated the game’s only run when he drove home Stephen Drew with a sacrifice fly in the second.

Billingsley (2-3) was spectacular in defeat - he allowed one hit and struck out eight in eight innings, and retired 20 of the final 21 batters he faced.

Collmenter, who has made seven relief appearances this season, did not walk a batter and threw 54 of 71 pitches for strikes. He set down 11 straight before Aaron Heilman relieved him in the seventh.

David Hernandez survived a leadoff double in the eighth and J.J. Putz worked out of a jam in the ninth for his eighth save.

Drew’s leadoff double in the second was Arizona’s only hit. James Loney had two hits for the Dodgers.
