Lance Berkman hit a grand slam and Skip Schumaker added a three-run blast as the visiting St. Louis Cardinals pounded the Arizona Diamondbacks, 15-5, on Wednesday.

Colby Rasmus and Albert Pujols each drove in two runs and scored three, and Rasmus and Gerald Laird had three hits for the Cardinals, who finished with 17 hits - 10 for extra-bases.

Ian Kennedy (1-1) started for the Diamondbacks and allowed a pair of runs on a wild pitch and a groundout in the first inning before really letting things get out of hand in the second. Rasmus doubled in two runs and Berkman followed two batters later with his fourth homer in the last three games.

Kennedy would last three innings, surrendering nine runs on seven hits.

Aaron Heilman wasn’t much better, yielding Schumaker’s homer in the fourth and three more in the fifth as St. Louis piled on.

Pujols finished 2-for-3 with a walk for his second straight multi-hit game to raise his average to .229.

Jake Westbrook (1-1) was the beneficiary of all the run support, picking up his first win of the season despite allowing five runs - two earned - and nine hits in 5 1/3 frames.
