Johnny Damon scored three runs and joined an exclusive club with his 500th career double as the host Tampa Bay Rays extended the Florida Marlins' disastrous stretch with a 7-4 victory Saturday.

Damon became the 11th player in major league history with 500 doubles, 100 triples, 200 homers and 2,500 hits. The other 10 are Hall of Famers.

Florida has lost nine straight games, 17 of 18 and 20 of 23 - the franchise's worst stretch since dropping 25 of 29 from Aug. 13-Sept. 12, 1998.

With a leadoff single off Florida starter Ricky Nolasco (4-3) in the fifth, Damon also tied Jimmie Foxx for 72nd on the all-time list with 2,646 career hits.

Damon led off the bottom of the first with his milestone double and scored later in the inning on the first of Matt Joyce's two sacrifice flies. Joyce had a chance to tie the major league record for sacrifice flies in a game with three, but lined into a double play in the eighth.

Rays rookie Alex Cobb (2-0) allowed two runs on three hits in 6 1/3 innings en route to his first win in three home starts.

Omar Infante had two hits and an RBI while Logan Morrison drove in a pair of runs for the Marlins, who played without Mike Stanton because of an eye infection.
