Jose Guillen belted a three-run home run in the first inning and the Kansas City Royals cruised from there to a 7-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers Sunday afternoon.

Guillen's 13th blast of the season set the tone for the Royals, who pounded out 15 hits to win two out of three in their weekend series with the Tigers. Yuniesky Betancourt led the charge two doubles and a pair of RBIs and every Kansas City batter had at least one hit in the game.

The offensive attack made things easy for winning pitcher Brian Bannister (6-3). The Royals right-hander allowed two runs on five hits in 7 1/3 innings, striking out five as he won his fifth consecutive start in front of more than 22,000 fans at Kaufmann Stadium.

Detroit starter Jeremy Bonderman (2-4) earned the loss, surrendering seven runs and 11 hits in 5 2/3 rough innings. He walked one and struck out two.

Magglio Ordonez had a run-scoring single in defeat for the Tigers, while a second run came into score on a Bannister wild pitch in the eighth inning
